Fancy sleeping with the fishes? Soon you can in this exclusive luxury, underwater hotel

Starting in November 2018, you’ll have the unique opportunity to sleep with the fishes, almost literally, in the new luxury underwater villa at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort.

The new “Makura” suite is a 2-level residence that’s the first of its’ kind. Meaning “coral” in the native language of Dhivehi, the Makura suite comes with a team of butlers to cater to your every need 24-7.

Here’s what you can expect in this new suite:

  • 193 sqft bedroom at 5 meters below sea level,
  • 180 degree views of the sea and ocean floor,
  • 5,900 sqft of rooms above the water,
  • an additional 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, bar, living area, and butler quarters above water,
  • 1,455 sqft of private, outer deck space, and
  • an infinity pool.

Getting there

You’ll arrive on the island via a scenic seaplane flight, domestic flight and short speedboat ride, or a luxury 3-hour yacht charter. As a bonus, all hotel guests flying in or out of nearby Malé Airport Seaplane Terminal get complimentary access to the Conrad Lounge including complementary back/shoulder massage, kids playroom, Wi-Fi and computer stations, shower facilities, and breakfast and dinner buffets. It’s the perfect way to set the mood for your stay at the resort. The lounge is open 7 am – 5 pm on a complimentary basis for resort guests and 5 – 11:30 pm for a fee.

The Ithaa Undersea Restaurant

There is also an underwater restaurant at the resort which opened in 2005. The Ithaa Undersea Restaurant offers private dining experiences for up to 14 people and offers 270-degree views of the coral reef. The restaurant was built in an area of extreme ocean conditions and is only expected until 2025!
